LGBTQ Affirmation Therapy
For more than 20 years, I have worked with individuals towards self acceptance. Knowing and accepting who we are can be difficult especially for members of the LGBT community. As author of the book, “Hidden Voices, Reflections of a Gay Catholic Priest,” I offer a unique perspective on this struggle and have used this perspective to help others. Whether an individual identifies as LGBT or have a family member or friend who is LGBT, I can help them work towards acceptance, love and peace.
There is nothing inherently wrong with being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered – Nothing!
We are all beautifully created as we are to be who we are.
I have always provided a safe place for LGBTQ individuals to explore what it means to be a sexual minority while learning how to live and express this identity in their communities.
Identifying as LGBTQ can be challenging and brings a unique set of concerns to the process. I am familiar with these concerns and offer acceptance, support, and encouragement. Some of these issues can cause depression, anxiety and other emotional stressors while other issues, such as trauma, may come up and will be met with compassion, understanding and nonjudgement.
During the process of acceptance, some of these challenges may include:
Coming Out
Self-Esteem
Relationships and Dating
Intimacy Issues
Sexual Compulsion
Substance Use/Addictions
Sexuality
Sexual/Gender Identity
Dealing with Shame
Internalized homophobia
Living with HIV/AIDS
